Shellhead (Iron man) Jersey Review

Well Ladies and Gentlemen the moment has arrived…we are proud to bring to you our review of the Shellhead (Iron man) Jersey from our friends at Rink Gear aka. Geeky Jerseys.
If you caught our previous post about Rink Gear you’ll know they are a business dedicated to offering fully customized hockey gear. From digital printing to embroidery, they offer a wide range of professional level jerseys for all levels of play. Rink Gear also provides a graphic service to ensure they meet and exceed your needs. Their mission and guarantee is to offer the highest quality at the lowest price.
On with the review though! Firstly I will say the turnaround time is fantastic for what are fully customized pieces of kit; you’re probably talking about 8 weeks from the end of the selling window until it is ready to be shipped to you. Shipping is also very fast, we are based in Northern Ireland and got our jersey within a week of it being shipped out; this should mean that those of you on the other side of the pond can expect to get yours even more quickly.
On to the actual jersey itself, it is an absolutely beautiful piece of kit. You can see and feel the quality as soon as you remove it from the bag. It feels like a proper hockey jersey because it is a proper hockey jersey, not one of these lightweight wannabe jerseys you see advertised. The colours (yes colours not colors – we are in the UK of course) are vibrant and in your face, the stitching on the different sections/name/numbers is really high quality and far better than most hockey jerseys I have played in. Then of course you have the main piece of the jersey, the Arc Reactor! This just makes the jersey stand out even more. If someone doesn’t realise what jersey this is from a distance then they’ll realise as soon as they get that little bit closer! The same goes for the quality of all Geeky Jerseys that Rink Gear make.
On ice the jersey is exactly what you expect, a top quality jersey that does the job that is required of it. Don’t get me wrong, I know the vast majority of these jerseys will never be worn on ice but having worn Shellhead in full kit I can guarantee you it holds up fantastically.
Most of you though, who get a jersey from Rink Gear/Geeky Jerseys, will be wearing them casually and I can tell you this…be prepared for loads of attention! I wore the Shellhead jersey to my local professional team (The Belfast Giants) game this past weekend and people couldn’t stop commenting on the jersey and asking where I had got it from, even the players where coming up and asking about it.
So to summarise…Geeky Jerseys provide a fantastic service for something so specialised. They keep bringing us jersey after jersey that you just want! Be it Iron man, Captain America, Batman, Zelda, Doctor Who or Star Wars and this is to name but a few. Operation Retroshock cannot recommend these guys to you more, go ahead treat yourself, you won’t regret it.

Review:It’s Tokyo Charlie Brown

By Robert Greenwood

It’s Tokyo Charlie Brown

If, by now, fans of Alternative Mindz didn’t know, I am a huge fan of all things Japanese. I’ve been to Japan twice and my wife reads, writes and speaks Japanese.

I’m also a huge fan of The Peanuts so having the two together is like Reese’s.
I’ve sung the praises of the new Boom series and how it lives up to Charles Schultz and embodies the spirit and energy of his work.

So, how does this new adventure fit? First off the writer, Vicki Scott, placed segments of actual old strips into the story to meld the world as one, making this book seem like it “fit like a glove” as one of Charles M. Shultz’s own.

This story has a familiar theme. Charlie Brown once again fails at everything he does, letting his team down again as their coach and pitcher. This leads to all forms of torture by his peers through name calling. Despite all of this, he receives a letter in the mail to have his team play in Japan.

The reasoning gets lost as to why they are chosen but who cares? Get these kids to Tokyo!

They sprinkle bits of actual Tokyo into the story from images of Tokyo Tower to the “go to” tour bus of all of Tokyo, the Hato bus and more. Yet, they missed a real opportunity at showing the gang like fishes out of water by not taking them to Akihabara (Akiba) with the maid cafes or all the fun electronics, something they would look completely confused by. Also having Snoopy interact in a pachinko parlor is a personal wish.

It would have been something unique to have the game played in the Tokyo Dome. When Lucy makes fun of Chuck’s head, I thought we would get a game inside the Tokyo Giants’ turf.

Other than my Otaku grip, this is a perfect continuation of all the past “It’s ——- Charlie Brown” books and should be read by all who love The Peanuts and who love Japan. It’s over 100 pages and a super fast fun read for all ages.

IDW Announces New Creator-Owned Series from the Comics Legend!

Continuing their ongoing partnership with legendary comics creator John Byrne, IDW Publishing is beyond pleased to announce THE HIGH WAYS, a brand-new, starbound adventure series written and drawn by Byrne!

THE HIGH WAYS follows the exploits of a spirited young man named Eddie Wallace. Hungry for the brand of wild adventure only available off-planet, Eddie joins up with a crew of a rock-hopping freighter, eager to see what lies beyond the clouds. As these things tend to go, however, everything in these early days of interstellar travel isn’t quite what it seems as intrigue and mystery abound.

“This evolved into something a bit more like Dan Dare, the British sci-fi strip so beloved from my childhood and early teens. I liked the idea of playing in that “old time sci-fi” kind of milieu, where all the adventures took place within the Solar System, and where life — even intelligent, humanoid life — was to be found everywhere,” said Byrne before adding an extra tidbit for his fans. “I decided this takes place in the Next Men “universe” –though in the altered timeline our heroes created when they wiped out Project Next Men. The time is eighty or ninety years in the Future, roughly, and a central character of the first arc is Eddie Wallace, who appeared briefly in the previous series.”

Another in a long line of fruitful partnerships with the iconoclastic Byrne, IDW is immensely proud of THE HIGH WAYS’ high adventure and exciting future series yet to come!

“I’ve found John Byrne’s boundless creativity, wealth of ideas and his ability to consistently deliver high-quality comics on time to be pretty much unmatched over the course of our six-plus years of working together,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief, “and I’m happy to continue that with The High Ways. 2013 is going to be a big year for John Byrne and IDW, with John prepping two new series to roll out later in ’13 as well.”

THE HIGH WAYS #1 (of 4) (FC, 32 pages, $3.99) in stores 1/16/13.
