Batgirl Makes Her Way Home to Burnside With a New Artist!

Christian Wildgoose announced as new artist on the Batgirl ongoing series 

 

This January, Batgirl is headed home— with a new artist and new villain to kick off the next arc! Artist Christian Wildgoose (GOTHAM ACADEMY) will take over art duties once Rafael Albuquerque’s run concludes with BATGIRL #6. Wildgoose joins writer Hope Larson upon Batgirl’s return home in “Son of Penguin.” Since the launch of Rebirth, Barbara Gordon has left Burnside and Gotham behind for some well-earned time off. Traveling to Japan, Singapore and more she’s been on a quest to train with the most elite masters of the East— as well as taking a break from her everyday crimefighting life. But where she goes, danger always follows. 


“I’m still in shock to be working on Batgirl, probably more so than the readers, so I’m feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves as I take on one of my favorite characters,” says Wildgoose. “Despite any nerves, I know I’m in safe hands working with Hope. She’s doing an awesome job with her current run and I’m looking forward to teaming up with her.  After Rafael’s run, I know I have some pretty big yellow boots to fill. Hope and Rafael’s amazing work makes Batgirl larger than life and I hope to keep their fire and energy burning. Most of all, I’m going to have fun. I think that’s something even Batgirl would approve of.” 


In BATGIRL #7, the Batgirl we know and love returns to Burnside to find an entirely different city than the one she left behind. Due to a boom in tech start-up companies, Burnside is now trendier than ever, leaving Babs to feel out of place in her newly gentrified neighborhood. But it’s not all a loss. She’ll soon meet a dashing and handsome techie named Ethan, only to find out that her striking beau has a familiar last name—Cobblepot! Will her new found romance bring her more trouble than she was ready for? You’ll have to find out.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Zombie enthusiasts and fans of the number-one show on television, The Walking Dead, will have the opportunity to meet their favorite stars at the upcoming Walker Stalker Con at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, October 1-2.

Walker Stalker Con has become an incredibly popular convention, offering something for everyone from the diehard fan to families to those with a growing interest in the genre. More than 30 of the most popular actors from shows such as The Walking Dead, Bates Motel, Gotham and more will speak to the audience, meet fans, pose for photos and sign autographs.
Attendees can also participate in a range of engaging and unique activities, including:

  • Free panel sessions led by stars from some of television’s most popular shows. 
  • The Walking Dead Experience, is an immersive theatrical attraction in which small audience groups are placed in the middle of the action as either “walkers” or “survivors” and moved through a story by performers.
  • Zombies and cosplayers roam the convention floor, making for interactive experiences attendees will never forget.
  • Bringing the Dead to Life with Tate Steinsiek, a two-hour demonstration showcasing intermediate and advanced zombie special effects. This is a chance to get up close and personal with one of the stars of Face Off as he explains and demonstrates his incredible craft. There will also be a “Custom Convention Make Up Session” with Tate.
  • Vendors who deal in the comic, entertainment, zombie and other genres and industries.

There are even a number of opportunities to volunteer at the event, which can be found on the Walker Stalker Con website.
One of the most popular elements of the convention is the chance to meet and hear from stars from popular shows. In Philadelphia, attendees will be treated to sessions with:

The Walking Dead: David Morrissey (“The Governor”), Chandler Riggs (“Carl”), Emily Kinney (“Beth”), Laurie Holden (“Andrea”), Michael Cudlitz (“Abraham”), Josh McDermitt (“Eugene”), Christian Serratos (“Rosita”), Lennie James (“Morgan”), IronE Singleton (“T-Dog”) — in all, there will be 26 actors from the show in attendance.

Last year, Factory Entertainment debuted its Game of Thrones Winterfell Desktop Sculpture, the first in a proprietary line of screen-accurate scaled environments. Today, the company expands its offerings from that category with its gigantic Castle Black and The Wall Desktop Sculpture.

Fans familiar with the show already know that The Wall is a colossal fortification constructed millennia ago and that it is garrisoned by several structures along its length which are defended by the Sworn Brothers of the Night’s Watch who maintain their headquarters from one of those structures, the remote and isolated stronghold, Castle black.

The Red Keep Relief Sculpture

 

Factory Entertainment’s second new Game of Thrones collectible is another highly recognizable castle from the series, The Red Keep Relief Sculpture.

 

The Red Keep dominates the skyline of the city of Kings Landing. Located at the southeastern corner of the city, it overlooks Blackwater Bay and the Narrow Sea. It serves as the city’s primary fortress and redoubt and is the Seat of the Iron Throne.

Capturing the majesty of The Red Keep, Factory Entertainment’s artists were able to sculpt this collectible in a mixture of high and low relief, which are commonly used in historical art pieces.

Each piece is cast in heavyweight polyresin and is finished in a bronze effect and patina. The Red Keep Relief Sculpture has a choice of display options on the rear and can be either wall mounted or displayed on a desktop.

Both limited edition sculptures are individually numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity.

“To create these iconic pieces, HBO provided our designers with access to the original visual effects files used to create various props and sets from the series.” said Barry Eldridge, Product Developer of Factory Entertainment’s Game of Thrones sculptural lines. “In addition, scenes from the show were carefully scrutinized for fine details and master patterns were then meticulously hand sculpted to create immersive experiences.
