Members of the “27 Club” reached musical stardom early in life and died under various circumstances, all at the age of 27. Some of the club’s more famous members include Jim Morrison (The Doors), Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), and Amy Winehouse. Fifty-four comic artists and writers will contribute original comic stories inspired by their favorite song or member of the 27 Club.

Building on the success their previous year’s rock music-themed anthology, KILLER QUEEN, A Comic Anthology inspired by the discography of rock band, Queen, this is the fifth themed anthology for Red Stylo, but their first hardcover and first Kickstarter campaign. The new book will be 212+ color pages featuring original comic stories, vignette art and illustrated essays from both new and veteran creators. The Kickstarter campaign ends August 4th with a goal of $6000 to print a special “Rock Hard” hardcover edition of the collection, limited to a thousand numbered copies. 27, A Comic Anthology: ROCK HARD Edition is slated for release at New York Comic Con in October later this year, the book will be released digitally and as a trade paperback after the initial hardcover run is complete.
