Star Trek Turns 50 today and Star Trek:Missions was here last weekend.
Today Marks the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek and what an long time it has been since it debuted. Last weekend was the Star Trek: Missions convention in New York City and we got the chance to cover it. There were many booths and products for display including the NASA section which i found very interesting once i seen it. The NASA section had displays on the future satellites and jets and spaceships that are currently being developed along with stardust and other things that were from mars. Call me weird on this, but i actually like science.
The main floor for Star Trek: Missions had the set from the very first season of Star Trek and i spoke to an guy over there about it and he told me that there is an whole museum dedicated to Star Trek as well (click this link for more info http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/Startrek.aspx)
There was also an section for the upcoming Playstation 4 version of Star Trek Online where players from all over the world can play which also has cross-platform capability to the PC and XBOX ONE version.

There were a few panels that i wanted to go to but i was only able to go to two and they were Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Next Generation. The original cast from both of those seasons were there to talk about their roles in their respective shows along with promoting Star Trek: Discovery which will be coming in 2017.

And Finally here are cosplay pictures i have taken
Overall, this was an great event but i think the panel room situation could have been handled better but i would come back next year.

Julian’s thoughts: Quality over Quanity
One of the biggest pieces of news this week was the unveiling of two new championships on SmackDown as Daniel Bryan created both Women’s and Tag Team titles exclusively to the blue brand.

Whilst the unveiling was handled well and SmackDown’s show, in general, was better than Raw (once again) I couldn’t help but question the WWE’s decision to add more title’s to their programming.
Yes, I know that it has been common knowledge for several weeks as it has even been referenced on SmackDown but that didn’t prepare me for it actually happening.
Why am I so frustrated by the decision? It’s simple, the popular phrase ‘ It’s quality, not quantity.’ A phrase that WWE has completely ignored when it comes to championship belts by creating two more.
Now we have two tag team championships and two women’s championships, yet we are expected to hold all four titles in high prestige and respect? It doesn’t work that way, people have learned to respect the holder of the Women’s Championship (on Raw) because it has had a long healthy run by Charlotte and the belt gained prestige.

Well, all that was for nothing as now there is another Women’s Championship, which means they are on a level playing field.
The company has spent SummerSlam weekend promoting their Women’s division with the latest WWE 24 documentary and two blockbuster matches for both the NXT and the main roster’s Women’s title. On top of that, they had the return of Nikki Bella and the main roster debut of Bayley, but the second title has squashed some of that momentum.
It’s quite obvious that the WWE doesn’t have the main roster depth to have two split women’s rosters and two championships, for the short term it is going to work, fresh feuds, important matches that make the division have a more prominent place.
But in the long term, once you’ve seen those matches several times over there is a major issue.
The company missed out on having one brand exclusively having the women, like RAW have the cruiserweights. Just a few injuries to Emma and Sasha Banks and a suspension for Paige has left the rosters looking very thin.
WWE’s tag team division has exactly the same problem, there simply isn’t enough credible teams for split title’s.
On Raw, there are three teams to be taken seriously and that can compete for the belts, on SmackDown there’s arguably only two in the Usos and American Alpha.
Sure the company can build teams such as Breezeango but how seriously can you take Golden Truth?
One of the major issues from the last brand split was that the titles were devalued and became worthless, eventually being merged together.
Ultimately it would have made more sense to just have the champion cross brands and keep the quality of one belt instead of just throwing as many belts (that all look exactly the same) as possible at us.

Dark Souls 3 Review
The “Dark Souls” series has become synonymous with one thing: punishing difficulty. But the series isn’t just for masochists who crave a more difficult brand of video game. “Dark Souls 3” has a comparable difficulty to its predecessors, sure, but the experience is much more than a rigorous loop of trial and error.
The “Dark Souls” experience is about discovery, progression and success that grants a sense of satisfaction that is severely lacking in much of the adventure genre. “Dark Souls 3” impeccably improves on the structure of the original “Dark Souls” and “Dark Souls 2” all while managing to make the experience more accessible to newcomers.
“Dark Souls 2” introduced players to a vast open world, but one that suffered from flaws in its layout. In an otherwise excellent game, it had several new areas to explore that all branched from the central hub area. Having the hub at the center of everything meant that the player had to do a lot of backtracking, and never ventured far from home. There’s a psychology to that design that doesn’t mesh with the game’s tone. The “Dark Souls” experience is about exploring areas that feel inherently foreign. Each new environment welcomes the player with hordes of dangerous creatures and numerous twisting paths that lead to parts unknown. By design, each new area is supposed to feel alienating. Some of that feeling is lost when the warm, welcoming hub world is nearby.

In “Dark Souls 3” the hub world can’t even be accessed on foot. It’s far away and can only be accessed by bonfire travel. The knight, or warlock or thief that you’ve created is on his or her own in the uninviting and terrifying world. Every step journeys farther away from a place of normalcy. “Bloodborne” perfected the art of an interconnected open world; one where progressing to new areas somehow linked to previous ones. “Dark Souls 3” shows that From Software recognizes that perfection. Discovering new areas in this game conveys a mix of reward and fear of what lies ahead that isn’t found in other games.

The “Dark Souls” series usually has a front loaded difficulty. That’s especially the case with “Bloodborne.” The beginning areas are the most difficult while the player figures out what works and what doesn’t. Then things finally “click” and the player can breeze through future areas. “Dark Souls 3” is more balanced. The beginning isn’t as punishing. Actually, it is, but no more punishing from the rest of the game.
The balance of “Dark Souls 3’s” combat is one of its most underrated achievements. Balance is as important to a game like this as it is to something like the “Street Fighter” series. There are many ways to approach its action. The game offers dozens of weapons to choose from throughout the journey, all which have different attack speeds and unique abilities. Different characters can rely on spells or arrows for ranged attack. It’s possible to make a character who relies on counter punching after a successful block or parry. I got hooked on “Bloodborne’s” style and never relied on a shield, and instead crafted a character with good agility for dodging.
There isn’t a right or wrong way to approach a character in “Dark Souls 3.” Every type has their own strengths and weaknesses. There’s no exploitive easy button character. “Dark Souls 3” is designed to be challenging for every character class. My advice is to choose one path and continue it. Don’t start with a mage and change it to a knight halfway through the game. Don’t become a jack of all trades and a master of none. Specialization is key.
“Dark Souls 3” is an excellent jumping off point for the uninitiated. The lore isn’t connected to the first two games, at least as far as one could tell during the review process. The “Souls” series is lore heavy, so there may be some deep-seeded connection between all three games, but newcomers won’t miss much in that department. More importantly, “Dark Souls 3” doesn’t assume the player knows the gameplay mechanics from the previous games. That’s partially because much of the core mechanics have been altered in the sequel.
Hollowing is gone. The biggest annoyance and arguably the most punishing aspect of “Dark Souls 2” is no more. Hollowing used to mean the player’s maximum health decreased with each death. In a game like “Dark Souls” where one dies a lot, this can be a serious hindrance on progress. I always viewed it like the game was punishing me for even attempting a new area or boss. Fortunately, that mechanic is gone in “Dark Souls 3.” Well, it’s mostly gone. The player will lose some health upon death, but it doesn’t stack with subsequent deaths. The process can be reversed with ember items, which are comparable to human effigies from the previous game. Restoring humanity (it’s called harnessing the power of the Lord of Cinder in “Dark Souls 3”) with embers is also tied to the game’s co-op gameplay.
Co-op phantoms can only be summoned if humanity is restored to the player. In other words, you’ll have to use an ember in order to summon help from a friend. Ember availability is close to how plentiful human effigies were in “Dark Souls 2.” They can also be purchased in exchange for souls in the hub area. Defeating any boss will also restore humanity without having to burn an ember usage.
Online play of the “Souls” series has always been unique. Summoning a friend is an easy way to get through a boss that has been beating you to a pulp for ten or more attempts. It’s the same in “Dark Souls 3.” There should be a limit on how many times one can summon a friend. It takes away from some of the game’s difficulty, which takes away from the satisfaction once victory is achieved.
The game’s message system thankfully returns, which is one of the most genius uses of online play in any adventure game. Message senders are limited to what words they can leave for other players, but the game gives enough options to be descriptive. Each message is a helping hand from a nameless player going through the same tribulations that you are. It’s like the players are bound by the fraternity of “Dark Souls” and feel compelled to leave helpful messages to others in need. There’s hope for internet comments yet!
The “Dark Souls” series has an undeniable learning curve. There’s absolutely no way anyone will pick up a game controller for the first time and begin with a “Dark Souls” game. It’s an acquired taste that requires patience and appreciation for what the game asks of its players. Once that “eureka” moment happens, the game becomes one of the most rewarding experiences in the medium. Give it a chance, stick with it and make each death a learning experience. It might just become your new favorite series.

Top 10 Worst WWE Draft Moments
10. Muhammad Hassan and Davari drafted to Smackdown (2005)

To this day, Many fans and wrestling journalists cite the Muhammad Hassan gimmick to have the most genuine heat since Sgt.Slaughter back in 1991. Hassan and Davari made their main roster debut in December 2004 on the Raw brand as they got over with the crowd the minute they cut their first promo. During the 2005 Draft, they were drafted to Smackdown and then the terrorist angle happened between Hassan and Undertaker. It was made worse when WWE could not edit the skit off their show due to the real life London Train Station Bombing that happened a few hours before Smackdown aired. The Network told WWE to remove the Hassan Character off TV as his next appearance was on The Great American Bash PPV as Undertaker beat him in a match and he was never seen again on WWE TV. Hassan being drafted to Smackdown killed his career.
9. NWO drafted to Raw (2002)

Raw’s second pick in the first Draft was the trio of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and X-Pac as the NWO. This choice could have done great for them but Hall got fired after the “Plane Ride From Hell” incident two months later, X-Pac being sidelined with an Neck Injury in July during that year, and Kevin Nash tearing his quad during a match. Lets just finish off with the NWO in WWE was doomed the minute Hulk Hogan turned babyface.
8. Every ECW draft pick (2007-2010)
ECW was the worst offender of the WWE Draft since their brand was revived in 2006. In 2007, The Boogeyman got drafted to ECW, feuded with Big Daddy V, and then he got an injury that took him off TV for almost two years. In 2008, the United States Champion Matt Hardy got drafted to ECW and he had minimum success as he won the ECW Championship in September 2008 but by the time his reign started, he was an afterthought as Jeff Hardy was chasing for the WWE Championship on the Smackdown brand in which he eventually won it.
7. Triple H traded back to Raw (2004)

When Triple H got drafted to Smackdown in 2004, it was an shocking and unpredictable move. Everyone thought that his “Reign of Terror” on the Raw brand ended but then we find out the next morning that he was traded back to raw for Booker T and The Dudley Boyz. The only Superstar that benefited from the trade was Booker T as he turned heel and feuded with John Cena, The Undertaker and JBL as the Dudleyz were taken off TV by November of that year and HHH’s Reign of Terror continued on Raw for the rest of that year.
6. Kane Drafted to Raw (2008)

Kane was the ECW Champion (repeat those words in your head) when he got drafted to Raw and he had to drop the belt to Mark henry who was traded to ECW the day after. While Kane was on Raw during this period, he had an terrible feud with Rey Mysterio, costed an DQ finish to the CM Punk vs. Batista match on PPV, and relegated to just another body on the roster within the next year. Another waste of an draft pick.
5. John Morrison, R-Truth, Edge and Chris Jericho drafted to Raw (2010)

2009 was the first full year of the “PG Era” and while Raw was extremely hard to watch that year due to the weekly guest hosts crap, Smackdown was the best TV show that year due to the top stars like CM Punk, Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho and much more. In the 2010 Draft, Raw’s picks were John Morrison, Edge, Jericho and R-Truth while Smackdown barely got any top stars. This was bad because Smackdown’s viewership before the 2010 Draft has been the highest since 2002-2004 and they took away their 4 biggest Stars away from their brand and what did that amount to? Edge returned to Smackdown later that year, Jericho left the company 5 months later, R-Truth became an joke and John Morrison was in mid card hell until his feud with Sheamus during the King Of The Ring Tournament later that year. What an crappy way to treat the Blue Brand in 2010.
4. The Announcer switch (2008)

So here is how this happened. Melina vs. Mickie James ended via no contest due to Melina receiving an legitimate injury thus we went from one pick to two picks. Jim Ross drafted to Smackdown while Michael Cole was drafted to Raw and from that day on, the commentary team on Raw has not been the same since. Although Jim Ross was about to quit the company, he chose to stay on Smackdown as him and Matt Striker made an very good announce team that year.
3. Kelly Kelly as the first draft pick to Smackdown (2010)

I will go short with this one. Kelly Kelly was the first overall Pick for the Smackdown Brand in 2010 and did anybody cared? no. did anybody got excited? no. It was extremely pointless and that is all i have to say.
2. The 2005 draft structure (2005)
The Draft picks for that year’s draft was not actually bad. But the problem was the way it was structured and i am glad that this only happened once. The Way it was Structured was that once an week, each respective brand has one pick for the entire month of June. During the first week, John Cena was drafted to Raw and Chris Benoit was drafted to Smackdown 3 days later. The Final week, both brands switched it up as they had two picks on their show as Raw drafted Big Show and Rob Van Dam as Smackdown drafted Christian and Batista. Again, not bad picks at all but both brands could have done their picks in one night instead of a span of 5 weeks.
1. John Cena drafted to Smackdown but then back to Raw later that night (2011)

I do not think anybody who has written an list for the worst WWE draft picks/moments has chosen this moment within their top 5. We all thought that Cena being on Smackdown can boost up its relevance and star power but to only find out that he got drafted back to Raw at the end of the night infuriated me. I remember shutting my TV off when i seen that graphic on the Television as Michael Cole was laughing on commentary. But in retrospect, it was an good move that Cena did not stay on Smackdown or else the best rivalry on Smackdown in 2011 would have not happened (Randy Orton vs. Christian). I hope WWE never pulls off another stunt like that in future drafts.

Wizard World Philadelphia 2016 is an great place for friends and family to go to
Last week, me and my girlfriend Fidelina Roman had the opportunity to cover Wizard World Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from Thursday until Saturday and we had an blast. There was many cosplayers, comic writers, contests, video game tournaments, face painting and much more for families and friends and kids can go out and geek out over there. People can go there and dress up as their favorite super hero, super villian, video game character and anything else that they love and show it off in good fashion. here are some pictures of good cosplayers and costumes that we have taken.

here is the video game tournament area where games such as Mario Kart 8, Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. for WiiU and more were featured

We have also attended some Q and A panels from WWE Superstars and the first one is former WWE Champion Seth Rollins as he discussed his future goals for Wrestlemania, having matches with Finn Balor and AJ Styles, his sacrifices and much more.
Seth Rollins Q and A

The Second one we have attended was Sheamus as he also is featured in the Ninja Turtles movie that was just premiering that week. He talked about that along with Daniel Bryan, different styles of wrestling, how did he feel when he became WWE Champion back in 2009 and much more. Before the Q and A ended, he gave a fan an autographed (signed by him) Ninja Turtles magazine.

The final one was WWE Sasha Banks as she responds to internet rumors, her thoughts on women’s wrestling and much more
Sasha Banks Q and A

The Rest of the panels we have covered are the Captain America: Civil War panel which had Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie and also Stephen Amell’s Q and A panel

Overall, it was an great show and we hope to bring you more coverage when we go back next year. follow us on twitter @AltMindz and @Julianexcalibur
My thoughts: today’s product of WWE since after Wrestlemania 32
While Wrestlemania 32 gave us some fantastic moments, I think most would agree the ending left us feeling underwhelmed and disappointed, a sour note in an otherwise very solid show. I for one had went to sleep that night feeling very deflated, and quite frankly pissed off that they would so blatantly ignore the fans wishes, just to get the title on the good looking, muscular, Samoan dude. Everything was going to remain the same, Raw was going to kick off with a 20 minute Authority promo, and conclude with Reigns beating every member of the League Of Nations while Cole screams, “Roman Reigns has overcome all the odds tonight!” It felt like WWE had no plans on changing the product, being content with their current stagnant state, despite the outcry of smarks and casuals alike, for change.
Until… Well, the next night..
The Raw after Wrestlemania felt fresh, the focus on young stars was a welcome change of pace, and something just felt different, it didn’t feel like an average Raw, it started with Shane being put in charge and ended with AJ Styles becoming the Number 1 Contender in an incredible Fatal Four Way, with 4 of the best workers in the business. However, I still wasn’t convinced, Shane’s tenure in charge seemed like a one-week thing, and this focus on the younger and more ‘IWC friendly’ guys may just have been to please the crowd the night after Mania, who they knew, if they gave them the same old stuff, would crap all over it, their fear of which was apparent through the commentators’ “boo the people they normally cheer” shtick. My skepticism seemed warranted given what we’d seen in the past.
Boy was I wrong!
The weeks that followed have kept with this theme of intriguing storyline development, new stars being built in the likes of Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Enzo and Cass etc, and overall simply a better product. The card for Payback looks amazing, I’m looking forward to pretty much every match, the build has been fantastic, every match has been given meaning, purpose, and most importantly air time to build organically, little to none of it seems shoe-horned in, and there are two major plots which could give us a massive indication on the companies direction for the foreseeable future . The introduction of Anderson and Gallows has made for some compelling television, and an aura of mystic surrounds their inevitable eligance. Though it seems set up for Balor to join forces with Gallows and Anderson to turn on AJ, they could just as easily throw us a curve-ball, which hasn’t been felt in a very long time. Vince’s decision on Sunday, will shape the company for the next while at least, I can’t see it being as cut and dry as him picking one or the other, the possibilities are endless, which is very exciting.
Ratings…DO NOT PANIC!
Yes, the ratings have been fairly poor, but that should be expected, the new talent needs to be given time to settle in and get over with the casual audience. These guys are mostly unknown to casual fans, so when the guys they’ve known to be the stars aren’t on the show, they won’t tune in for a while, which is exactly why this opportunity needs to be taken, while a lot of your money and ratings draws are out, to enhance the new guys, and give them time to establish themselves with a new audience. Don’t go rushing back to the old guys in a panic because the ratings have dropped, it would completely derail all the good things that have been done since Wrestlemania.
Potential For Change:
I refer back to the title, the sense of change is looming, the opportunity to usher in a new era in WWE is very much in the companies hands, this Sunday, is a huge night for the WWE and professional wrestling in general, you can give back to us fans, and make us once again proud to call ourselves wrestling fans, the feeling of unpredictability once so synonymous with professional wrestling, feels like it’s slowly creeping it’s way back. The potential for two, company altering swerves, is here, my skepticism though not fully gone, is fading, don’t disappoint WWE.
My Thoughts for today on The Walking Dead: Cliffhangers
The problem isn’t cliffhangers as cliffhangers. It’s that this particular cliffhanger worked against the scene, rather than for it.
Look at the previous major cliffhangers:Rick being told something in secret adds mystery. If I hadn’t gotten into the show after playing the Telltale game, it would have been a really intriguing one.
After the farm falls, Rick has a different view of leadership, we see the prison that may become their new home, and Andrea met some lady with a cape and a freakin’ katana. I couldn’t wait to start season 3!
After the prison falls, they have survived their first major enemy, but their home is lost again and the group has scattered. I really looked forward to seeing how they met back up and how the group would change on this new arc
The group is reunited in the Termites’ prison. It’s their darkest moment, but seeing familiar faces, Rick is thinking “it’s US, of course we’ll make it out of this”. Awesome, pumped for the escape.
Alexandria may be falling, Rick’s group is using good-old zombie guts to escape. Then, the boy gets scared and says “Mommy?” I couldn’t wait to see the panic as the walker herd turned on them while they were surrounded and had nowhere to go. …the payoff was a total cop-out (what, did the walkers just not hear him?), but the cliffhanger itself did its job.
Negan attacking…someone. What I’m excited about in the next arc is seeing Rick dealing with his biggest defeat. They essentially just got conquered. This is the main attraction of the next arc, but the cliffhanger detracts from it in two ways: first, it lessens the impact of Rick’s despair because we don’t see who he lost; second, it puts the main focus of the premier on “who died?” rather than “how will they deal with their new warlord?”
If they were worried about the gore, there would have been better ways. They could have shown the first hit, then cut to the reaction of each of the others as we only hear the impact of the bat.
If they were worried about ratings……..they need new marketers.
