DARK HORSE HIRES KARI TORSON AS MANAGER OF INTERNATIONAL LICENSING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MILWAUKIE, OR—Dark Horse is pleased to announce the hiring of Kari Torson for the role of Manager of International Licensing!

A graduate of the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, Kari Torson went on to receive her MA in writing and publishing from Emerson College, Boston. Torson got her start working as a subsidiary rights associate at Simon & Schuster in New York City. From there she worked at Writers House before returning to rights management for children’s books at HarperCollins Publishers. Most recently she worked in foreign rights at Penguin Random House.

“For me, the best storytelling is a perfect blend of text and art, so I’ve always been drawn to comics, advocating for them at every opportunity. Dark Horse writers and artists are some of the most masterful in the industry and I couldn’t be more thrilled to join the Dark Horse team in a position where it’s actually my job to license comics all over the world,” said Torson.

“We are thrilled to have such a bright and energetic person move across the country to join us. Kari will make a great addition to the Dark Horse team,” said Dark Horse’s executive vice president, Neil Hankerson. “Kari’s previous publishing licensing experience will serve her well in her new role as Manager of International Licensing.”

Star Trek’s Klingon Warnog Ale Set to Make First Contact in States

  Klingon Warnog beer will launch in the United States in July.   The Federation of Beer has ‘Colla-BEER-ated’ with Indiana-based Tin Man Brewing Company to produce Klingon Warnog, which is the first in a wave of Star Trek™-themed alcoholic beverages to be released in United States.

The Star Trek-themed beer is a high-quality Roggen Dunkelweiss (Danish Rye Beer) that captures the warrior essence of the Klingon culture with its bold and unique taste.

Under license by CBS Consumer Products, “Klingon Warnog Ale” will beam into select liquor stores and bars in Indiana and Washington State during the week of July 28, 2014.

In celebration of the Klingon Warnog expansion, The Federation of Beer will be initiating a series of “premiere” launch parties under the banner of “First Contact: Klingon Warnog” over the next year.

The “First Contact: Klingon Warnog” events will kick off with launch parties in Evansville and Indianapolis on July 26. Additional USA launch parties will be announced in August. For more information on these and other events go to StarTrek.com andwww.federationofbeer.com .

– World-renowned manufacturer Bif Bang Pow! has announced a new partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products with Warner Bros. Animation (WBA), to release a series of new products from the upcoming animated comedy series Mike Tyson Mysteries™, which is premiering this fall on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block. 

Bif Bang Pow! is proud to add the Mike Tyson Mysteries collection of action figures to its ever-expanding lineup of iconic products. Bif Bang Pow! will debut a Mike Tyson Mysteries Mike Tyson with Boxing Gloves 8-Inch Action Figure Convention Exclusive at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, July 23-27, at the Entertainment Earth booth (2343).

In Mike Tyson Mysteries, Mike Tyson is taking the fight from the boxing ring to the streets … by solving mysteries!  Aided by the Mike Tyson Mystery Team – the Ghost of the Marquess of Queensberry, along with Mike’s adopted Korean daughter and a pigeon who was once a man – Mike Tyson will answer any plea sent to him.  If you have a problem that needs solving, Iron Mike is in your corner.  The series incorporates live-action appearances featuring Mighty Mike himself, and the gloves come off as the former heavyweight champ and his team gear up for weekly adventures as they put unsolved mysteries down for the count. The series stars Mike Tyson, Norm Macdonald (Saturday Night Live), Rachel Ramras (MAD) and Jim Rash (The Way Way Back, Community).

This latest partnership between Bif Bang Pow! and Warner Bros. builds upon the companies’ existing partnership for  products based on The Big Bang Theory,network television’s most-watched comedy among Total Viewers and #1 entertainment series among Adults 18-49.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Minimates Box Set Gets New Photos!

At this week’s Comic Con International in San Diego, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum will release their Marvel Minimates box set based on the classic X-Men comic storyline, “Days of Future Past.” Published in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142, the story showed a grim future where mutants were second-class citizens that had been largely exterminated by giant Sentinels, and it became one of the touchstones of the X-Men mythos.

The 4-pack of Minimates captures some of the storyline’s most important characters – Future Wolverine, Future Kitty Pryde, Mystique and a Future Sentinel. Each stands approximately 2 inches tall with a variety of interchangeable parts and accessories, and we’ve taken some photos to show off all those parts! Check out the photos in the gallery, then come to booth 2607 on the show floor to pick up a set for $20, or check with your local retailer to see if they can order it in for you!

Project Update #15: Metal Weapons Pack at SDCC!

We’re about to leave for San Diego Comic Con this week and are very excited to announce that we will be debuting* a three pack of metal Skeleton Warriors weapons including:

Skeleton Guard halberd 
Skeleton Soldier axe 
Baron Dark’s sword

These are pewter versions of the weapons from our new line of figures which means they are also Glyos compatible! They range from 2.25″ to 4.5″ long and come in a collectors box with a mini print of the concept art for the Skull Hammer/Slasher which was used as inspiration for the Skeleton Soldier’s axe!
